When did we become addicted to salt?

Researchers say that 6-month-olds already crave salty foods, according to the Daily Mail.

Children who are fed foods such as bread and cereals during breakfast like a meal that tastes better than those who don't.

Experts from the Mornell Center (USA) found that children familiar with salt in foods absorbed 55% more than children who were not used to a hobby test.

By the time he was 4 years old, the same children were more likely to eat salt alone.

"There is growing evidence that the early months of life form a period of shaping flavor preferences ," said physiologist psychologist Leslie Stein, who led the study.

In the study, the salt preferences of 61 children were tested at 2 and 6 months of age. At each age, they were given water from 3 jars in 2 minutes each.

A water tank, the second container contains a moderate salt content (1%, equivalent to the salinity of commercial chicken noodle soup), and the third jar contains a higher salt content (about 2%, meaning is very salty for adults.

But at 6 months of age, there is a link between children's interests and salty foods and previous exposure to salt-containing starches, including prepared foods.

A total of 26 children ate starchy foods like salt water, while the other 35 children were not given the food on indifference or continued to "treat" salt- infused water.

The results of the study are published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition Journal.
