Why do passengers always have to get on or off the plane by the door on the left?

Every time it comes to check-in procedures, boarding, there are many people in a hurry to hurry because of worrying about being late, worrying about missing items, worrying about everything in the world, whether for the first time flying or already go many times. That's why sometimes we don't pay attention to the very small but interesting details that the aviation industry 'hides' passengers when flying.

Have you noticed that when checking in to move from the terminal to the plane, passengers are always brought in from the left door, even when disembarking ? If you're a curious person, there's a question about this. There is a scientific reason for getting on and off the plane with the door on the left.

The right side of the plane has enough doors but only for emergencies.

Not only commercial aircraft, but most of the transport, combat aircraft . passengers must board from the left door. The reason is related to conventions in the maritime industry that have existed since time immemorial. According to the structure of the ship, the starboard is the place where the rudder is located, so passengers have to go up and down on the left side when the ship arrives at the port.

Similarly, the right side of the plane has enough doors but is only used in emergencies. Normally, this side is where the ground staff arranges checked baggage so passengers have to get up and down from the front and rear doors on the left side, whether you board the plane via pipes or by car.

A captain of the Dreamliner airline also said that the right door of the aircraft will be smaller than the left door to retain the rigidity and structure of the aircraft. Therefore, when passengers get up and down by the left door, the pilot can easily observe and control the aircraft to take off and land safely.

There are also other reasons that can explain more scientific. Today, commercial aircraft are designed to refuel on the right flank. Therefore, thanks to the separation between the right door and the left door, the activities become safe, avoiding unfortunate situations. On the contrary, the loading of luggage will be done on the right side. The luggage compartment door is usually very wide and can only be carried on the starboard side.

Ultimately, whatever the reason, the main purpose of moving to the left door of the aircraft has become the common standard for airlines around the world. This approach also ensures optimal safety for passengers .
