African elephants are threatened

According to authorities in Kenya and Mali, within two years of 2005-2006, about 40 tons of illegal ivory smuggled were seized worldwide. The number of ivory is equivalent to about 6,000 elephants in Africa killed!

According to the authorities of the two countries, in the past two years, the number of elephants killed in Africa amounted to nearly 40,000. Experts warn that ivory smuggling is directly threatening elephant survival in the continent.

Kenya and Mali have asked member states to join the Washington Convention to completely stop the ivory trade for 20 years to ensure the survival of elephants.

Currently China and Japan are considered the two largest smuggling ivory markets in the world. In Japan, ivory is often used as seals or seals. Last year, about 3 tons of ivory were seized at the country's port of Osaka.
