Birds can become extinct because of the greenhouse effect

The warming of the Earth climate, if not controlled, could push 72% of the bird species on the planet to the brink of extinction, the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) warns.

Migratory birds are very sensitive to climate change. Right now, global warming is causing bad effects on the lives of many species, including penguins and molasses. This is the conclusion of WWF in a conference on climate change in Kenya on November 13.

" The disappearance of many birds shows that the greenhouse effect has caused a series of impacts on ecosystems on a global scale. Climate change also affects the behavior of migratory birds. Evidence is that some migratory birds have no more instinct to change their habitat, 'the report said.

In the future, WWF said, if the greenhouse effect continues to grow at the current rate, about 72% of birds will become extinct. However, the bird's risk of extinction can be prevented if humans implement strict environmental protection measures, such as cutting industrial emissions.

The number of migratory birds is declining in Europe and the United States when their food sources disappear due to climate warming. In many places, such as the northern Hudson Bay of Canada, mosquitoes are proliferating very fast and have reached a record number in the spring of this year. But many seabirds in these places do not change their behavior to adapt to new conditions. The same situation occurs in the Netherlands, where 90% of individuals in some birds have disappeared in the past two decades.

If the climate temperature continues to increase, the wet lands of the Mediterranean coast - home to most migratory birds on the planet - will become drought by 2080. In addition, the increase of temperature will also destroy many other migratory bird destinations, making them less selective.

" The birds living on the islands and the mountains will have nowhere to avoid the cold. For example, the eagle species that live in protected areas in Spain will have no place to live in a few years, " the report said.
