Coming soon to operate the first unmanned aircraft in the world

Chinese startup Ehang said passenger flights by unmanned aircraft will soon depart this year or next year.

CNBC quoted co-founder Derrick Xiong as saying that the unit is cooperating with the government of Guangzhou province (China) to build 3 to 4 regular routes. If feasible, China will become the first country to deploy the world's first unmanned passenger drone.

Prior to that, a number of other cities such as Dubai (United Arab Emirates - UAE) also research, develop and conduct experiments. However, up to now, no program has been successful.

Ehang is not the only company to promote drone technology. Two major aircraft manufacturers, Airbus and Boeing, have been testing separate versions of the technology for the past two years.

For many companies, their vision is a world where drones can provide a new kind of urban traffic, especially in areas where traffic is always a problem. Serious problems need to be addressed.

To convince passengers that this new type of shuttle technology is safe, Ehang needs to make every effort to handle every challenge, from infrastructure to legal issues.

The Civil Aviation Administration of China has chosen Ehang as the first company in the country to begin a pilot program to develop passenger drones. According to Director Xiong, Ehang will work with Guangzhou provincial authorities to build infrastructure including takeoff and landing points.

Ehang also needs to coordinate with Chinese lawmakers to amend the law to manage new technology in the context of the current lack of regulations in this area.

'We have seen many positive changes in the last few years. We started researching this project in 2016, when no one knew what it was. Earlier this year, we received permission from the Civil Aviation Administration of China to launch the pilot program . because we worked together to set the standard , "said the founder Xiong.

The company plans to conduct at least 2,000 test flights inside and outside China under various weather conditions.

'We can confidently say that the device is very safe because of the original design of this aircraft . there are 16 propellers, 16 engines and equipped with a backup power supply system. That means if one or several engines are lost, the passengers are fine, '' Xiong said.
