The mouse has the scientific name Crateromys australis, which people used to call the cloud mouse, first collected samples by scientists in 1975 on Dinagat Island, Philippines.

But over the past 20 years people no longer see them, so they think the mouse cloud is extinct. William Oliver, a member of the Philippine Biodiversity Conservation Fund, said mice have the only habitat on Dinagat Island.
According to UPI, earlier this year, scientist couple Milada Rehakova and Vaclav Rehack (Czech) combined their honeymoon vacation and conducted scientific research at Dinagat Island. They installed the device and, as a result, obtained a video and recorded the operation of a cloud mouse. It was an adult mouse with gray fur - golden brown, it had a long tail with two separate black and white parts. The image shows that the rat works in three different locations, climbing and finding food in the bush.
Although the rats were found again, scientists still classified them as highly endangered because mining is taking place in Dinagat.
