While the New Year of Mau Tuat is approaching, unique dogs are one of the topics of great interest.

Among the strange dogs, there is a dog known for its ability to sing like a singer - which makes them known as New Guinea singing dogs (NGSD in English).

NGSD can change the pitch of their howls, combine with yelps or howl and this set of sounds sounds like they're singing, according to Pet Guide.

New Guinea dog is one of the rarest wild dogs in the world. So far, there are only two NGSD shots in nature: a photo taken in 1989 by Australian zoologist Tim Flannery, a photo taken in 2012 by instructor Tom Hewett.

Singing dogs New Guinea are native wild dogs in New Guinea for centuries. The first dog to leave the island for research was in 1897. By 1956, another pair of New Guinea dog were captured by scientists and transferred to the Taronga Zoo in Australia for research.

In addition, some NGSD are also raised by local people as hounds and dogs. Therefore, today, this dog has both an individual that exists in nature and has an individual living with humans and is bred by humans.

Characteristics

NGSD is 30-46cm tall and weighs 8-14kg when mature. Compared to other dogs, New Guinea singing dogs live for a long time, with an average lifespan of 15 to 20 years.

Although of medium size, this breed is very active. In nature, they eat herbivores, rodents, birds and fruits. In captivity, New Guinea singers often eat a lot of lean meat.

Characteristic

In most cases, NGSD is very friendly to humans although they can be a bit shy at first.

This breed is very intelligent and it is very difficult to tame and train them. They are capable of escaping from captivity, can climb and jump out of stables. Once tamed, these dogs tend to be intimately attached to their owners and can be very fond of them.

However, NGSD has a high demand for prey and may be a bit distant, even aggressive when strangers and other dogs are present.
