Elon Musk challenges NASA, wants to launch missiles on Mars before 2018

After a lot of effort, SpaceX finally did a successful trial of the Falcon 9 missile landing site at sea. This is a great milestone not only for SpaceX or billionaire Elon Musk, but also for the entire world aerospace industry.

Following this success, SpaceX said it will continue its mission to launch missiles on Mars in 2018. If this is true, SpaceX will once again surpass NASA giants. When NASA space agency also plans to "visit" Mars, it is in 2020 - 2030.

SpaceX announced, they will use the Red Dragon spacecraft to fly to Mars.

According to new information published by SpaceX, they will use the Red Dragon spacecraft to fly to Mars. This is a modified and upgraded version of the Dragon 2 spacecraft, with 8 SuperDraco engines and designed to land on any planet in the Solar System.

Red Dragon's engines will work to slow down and stabilize when the spacecraft lands, with a mechanism similar to the Falcon 9 missiles when landing on the ground. SpaceX will also upgrade Falcon 9 with a larger, more powerful version that can take their spacecraft into space.

Immediately after SpaceX published this information, billionaire Elon Musk also posted on his Twitter page. He said the first test of this mission will be conducted in 2018.

Elon Musk also said that the Red Dragon spacecraft will not return to astronauts. He explained that the space inside the spacecraft is very narrow and not suitable for a long trip.

Dragon 2 is designed to land on any planet in the Solar System. Mission Red Dragon will be the first test flight.

However we will not bring astronauts with us. Because the space inside of the spacecraft is only equal to an SUV, it is too small for a long journey.

However, this mission will place an important milestone on the path to bringing humanity to Mars. SpaceX also said it is developing a larger tonnage spacecraft, so that more cargo can be carried on Mars.

After having these solid foundations, SpaceX began to think about bringing astronauts to Mars. This will be an extremely difficult mission, because not only should SpaceX's astronauts be brought to Earth. Current technologies are still limited to making a return flight from such a long distance.
