Explore the snow-covered village in the Arctic region
Northern Russia's Teriberka village crumbled from the 1960s is now revived because there are many scenes in The Leviathan, the film won the best script for Cannes Film Festival 2014.
Teriberka is a village in the Murmansk region (Russia) on the Kola peninsula, located on the Barents coast - part of the North Ocean. The name Teriberka was first mentioned about 1523.
At the end of the 19th century, Teriberka was a seaside town due to shark fishing, where there was a church, a lighthouse, and a weather forecast station (first on the Murmansk region coast).
After World War II, the village of Teriberka flourished with shipyards as well as dairy cows and reindeer.Teriberka became the administrative center of a fast-growing district, many of which were built according to collective models such as stadiums, workers' clubs in shipyards;schools, ambulance stations, public hospitals .
The ruins of Teriberka village began in the 1960s, when the administrative area was transferred to the town of Severomorsk. The port was also newly built in the city of Murmansk (120 km away), serving as a mooring place for a fleet of large vessels that regularly sail offshore. In the picture is a church abandoned.
Without investment development, a series of factories closed, people moved animals to new lands.By 2000, the Arctic Ocean coastal village had only nearly 1,000 people, they lived in old and dilapidated houses, without gas and heating systems.
In 2014, Teriberka suddenly appeared in Andrey Zvyagintsev's film The Leviathan and the famous Russian cast, the award-winning work for the best film Cannes festival. The beauty of nature in northern Russia made the audience so shocked that many people after watching the movie came immediately to Teriberka to enjoy.
Roads from Murmansk to Teriberka are always busy. The last days of April had melted in the river with the name of the village, the sides of the snow were still white.
It is also in this area of Russia that the urns produced in the 1970s of the last century were still active.
In response to Arctic.ru, Murmansk officials said they are implementing a comprehensive development program that includes economic and social measures and investment in accommodation and restaurants to serve tourists.Over the past 2 years, Teriberka village has welcomed a large number of tourists from Thailand, Vietnam and China.
A number of top houses from Russia and Norway also seized the opportunity to build a hotel on the Barents beach. "We will treat you with traditional dishes of northern people like red beet soup, grilled salmon served with potatoes ." , a restaurant owner shared.
At the window of the Soviet-era apartment building, every tourist who visited was this man who looked at the output.
Modern vehicles also appear, Teriberka now has a kite surfing area on the snow, scuba diving . Along with that, the Arctic festival is expected to be held once a year.
If Moscow and St.Petersburg are always crowded and splendid by ancient buildings, this village will bring peace and little curiosity. On the occasion of coming here, do not forget to bring the national flag because the location of the village is also adjacent to the north pole of the earth.
