Giant meteors fly over Earth on Christmas Eve
A 2.4-kilometer giant meteorite is expected to fly over Earth at the closest distance on Christmas Eve this year.
On Christmas Eve, the meteorite 2003 SD220 will fly over Earth at a distance of 11 million kilometers, 28 times more than the distance between the moon and our planet.
If meteorite 2003 SD220 gets closer to Earth, a direct collision with such a large meteorite can completely destroy a continent on our planet.
Meteorite 2003 SD22 will fly over Earth this Christmas night.
With a width of up to 2.4 km and such a distance, a rumor that meteorite 2003 SD22 can cause earthquakes and make volcanoes work again. But experts claim there is no scientific evidence for this theory.
Discovered in 2003, meteorite 2003 SD220 can only be seen with telescopes. Currently, it is moving at a speed of 28km / sec. The US space agency (NASA) said the meteorite will return to Earth in 2018 , but is unlikely to threaten our planet for at least 200 years.
NASA has put 2003 SD220 on the list of meteorites that humans can access and astronomers will follow it over the next few weeks. According to the program to observe objects near Earth, no meteors or comets can affect our planet in the near future.
