Google hired Nasa's space center for space research

Google has just hired the Moffett Space Airport, a former NASA space airport, to cater to the expansion of space and robot research. This sub-lease costs Google $ 1.16 billion.

The spaceport is currently being used as an airport for taking off and landing a billionaire's jet aircraft. Planetary Ventures, a Google subcontractor, will manage the space center Moffett and Google will not describe in detail how the center will be used.

For NASA, this lease will bring them many benefits. Through the agreement, Nasa will earn $ 1.16 billion for a 60-year lease. Charles Bolden, Nasa's administrator, said at the same time that Nasa expanded their presence in space, Nasa also gradually reduced their presence on the earth.

According to Google, this investment will be an opportunity to restore an iconic building. In terms of the contract, Google will restore the number 1 spacecraft building, the Hangar On e building . The Hangar One building was built in 1933 and is one of the largest self-standing structures in the world.

The plan to restore Hangar One and a number of other spacecraft depots in Moffett will cost about $ 200 million. After being restored, the Moffet space center is also used for education when people can come to explore an iconic place and the role of technology in changing lives.

Very little is known about Planetary Ventures, the company behind the deal. Many newspapers describe this company as a real estate broker, however, the name Planetary Ventures seems to be more meaningful than just real estate.

Previously, Moffett Space Center was managed by Nasa's Ames Research Center, less than 10km from Google's headquarters in Mountain View.

Space projects

This is not the first time Google has invested in unusual projects. In 2013, two mysterious big barges appeared along the coast of San Francisco and Portland, finally known by Google. At first Google intended to use it to introduce new products such as Google glasses or self-propelled cars. This project was later canceled because the coast guard warned of the risk of fire.

This is not the first time Google has partnered with NASA. In 2005, Google set up an office near NASA's research center within the scope of a cooperative project.

Most recently, the two sides have also cooperated to establish a laboratory to study advanced learning machines and headquarters in Nasa's research center.

Two Google co-founders, Larry Page and Sergey Brin, are also famous for their aerospace and space interests, and they have also bought many satellite and robot technology research firms.
