Mystery of the soul

Do you believe in the soul? Do not you believe in soul? It is difficult to answer, because it is a concept that people have never truly mastered. But explaining the existence and movement of the world around and even of myself is the never-ending need of man. Therefore, scientists are always trying to find answers about the soul.

The mystery has no solution to the soul after death

From a strange story in Tibet

In the most mysterious land in the world, Tibet to this day still conveys a very strange event about the " Rainbow ". The incident occurred in 1998 in Kham, a remote area in eastern Tibet, the strange disappearance of the lama Khenpo A-chos . He is one of the most prestigious lamas in the region, regularly lecturing on Buddhism, although the Chinese government has strict regulations on this. At the age of 80 the lama remained completely healthy. One day, Khenpo A-chos lama lay on his bed, muttering a Tibetan mantra " Om mani padme hum " and died. Soon after, the rainbow appeared on his small room all day.

The students of Khenpo A-chos held a prayer ceremony for the mentor's soul to escape. But the strange phenomenon happened: the lama's flesh began to glow again. It seems that Khenpo A-chos is slowly reborn. His students consulted a lama and were advised to wrap up his body and continue praying. They do exactly as directed. A week later, when he opened the cover of the corpse, the lama, who only saw a few strands of hair left on the pillow, Khenpo A-chos's body completely disappeared. Since then the Tibetans called him " Rainbow ".

Mystical stories spread everywhere. Father Francis Tiso - a Benedict priest in America also heard this mysterious story. He is one of the researchers on Buddhism and has a doctorate in this area. Francis Tiso's father organized a trip to Kham to record the accounts of those who witnessed the event. The person whom Tiso's father wanted to meet most was the lama who was consulted by Lama A-chos's students. The lama told Tiso's father that Lama A-chos' disappearance was due to a physical force coming from his soul . This is not a saying that has a philosophical or metaphorical meaning, what he wants to say here is a fact that happened. The lama gave Father Tiso a picture of Lama A-chos when he died. With the naked eye, a stream of light from the body of Lama A-chos can be seen very clearly. Seeing the picture, Tiso's father exclaimed: "This is the harmony between what is possible and impossible, between an existing person and a supernatural person. One day we will find a basis to prove that it's real ".

What Father Tiso wanted to find during the incident at Kham was also in the big problem that he was studying, whether there was the existence of the human soul. Currently, the controversy surrounding this issue is still fierce. The point of the problem is that, if there is an existence of a soul, how to determine it. Those who argue that the soul is true based on religious documents to prove its existence, and those who oppose that arguments are too vague and cannot be trusted when tested testimony with scientific studies.

Scientific verifications

Many people have tried to prove the existence of the soul by scientific experiments. One of them is Dr. Duncan MacDougall . After conducting experiments on 7 deaths, he found that immediately after his death, the weight of the dead decreased from 11 to 43g. He thinks it is the physical part that people often call the soul that escapes the body. Later, many others also tried to repeat Duncan 's experiment, but the answer to the existence of the soul has not been elucidated. The weight lost by humans after death is explained simply by the evaporation of the amount of water available inside the body.

Another doctor also tried to prove the existence of the soul with scientific experiments, namely Gerard Nahum , director of research at Berlex Pharmaceutical. He spent 20 years just researching this field. According to Nahum, the most difficult problem to determine the existence of the soul is to find the electromagnetic sequence emanating from the dead body . He placed a series of modern detectors around the body (microwave, infrared ray detector, gamma ray, electromagnetic, .) to find the "soul" . Nahum is certain that after death, all that belongs to him when they are alive cannot be immediately lost. It will have to go through a transition to somewhere in space. In those places, they will be preserved and eternal. But when he tried to present his ideas to American universities, they all refused. Even Christian churches do not accept funding for Nahum's research. So this scientist's efforts stalled .

"It's not something for the eyes, but for the heart. For us, perhaps the eyes-seeing and the feeling from the heart will give the most accurate answer." the lama whom Tiso's father met at Kham said.

At the University of Virginia, a psychiatrist who is Gruce Greyson also has studies related to the existence of the soul. Greyson was the first to focus on the psychology of those who are on the boundary of life and death. He discovered that some dying people saw a very strong blue light , and felt a tunnel leading them forward. But in fact Greyson does not fully believe in the existence of the soul. He said that there must be more research to prove the existence or non-existence of the soul.

Current scientific or religious answers are still not satisfactory. Through 30 years of learning about the mental state of dying people, he found that about 10% of people with heart failure have signs of brain activity while they are unconscious. After being cured and awake, these patients said they saw doctors and nurses' activities at a higher point. Continuing research, Greyson placed a screen with different interfaces outside the emergency room to help patients with heart failure. He said that if there is a true existence of the soul, those with heart failure after awakening will know the color of the screen in the next room. 50 people have been tested, but no one knows what color the screen is. The scientist explained that it was due to the effects of anesthesia that prevented the escape of the soul.

Pim van Lommel , Danish cardiologist also agrees with Greyson's point of view. Lommel believes that people not only have a sense of consciousness , while they are in a state of dying, other consciousnesses operate and expand its scope more than any previous time. At that time they were able to relive the most distant time in the past and feel more clearly than usual things and people around them. Meanwhile, their central nervous system is still inactive.

These assumptions pose a suspicion for knowledge that we have known and acknowledged long ago: Consciousness is the product of the brain. That may not be accurate now. Because if so, consciousness will not exist if the brain stops working. But the above experiments prove the opposite.

Two Oxford scholars, Stuart Hameroff and Roger Penrose, explain the existence of souls through quantum processes . According to the two men, the human brain is divided into billions of microscopic cells, which link together through a process of quantum movement. When a person's body stops working, blood will not be transferred to these cells, and they will stop working. But the movement of quanta is not lost. They will escape outside the brain and note what exists in the surrounding space. If the person regains consciousness, the quantum will return to the brain and work with their normal function. What they record when exiting outside is also received by the brain. And that is why a dying person who is later rescued can know the facts that he has not seen or heard.

So if the person doesn't regain consciousness, where will those quantum sequences move? Continuing to expand the hypothesis of Hameroff and Penrose, Dr. Ian Stevenson investigated the possibility that these quantum sequences would be received in the infant's brain, or in other words, rebirth ! After Ian Stevenson died, his son Tucker continued to pursue this hypothesis. Tucker conducted interviews with many children, among whom he gathered 1,400 children who were able to know the events that occurred before sentient beings. Even some children can tell very well the events in the very early stages of human history.

In fact, so far, although we have gathered all the scientific researches on this issue, we cannot know exactly whether there is existence of the soul, and if so exist. in which form they will exist. Perhaps science is not always the optimal solution for all problems. As the lama, Tiso's father met in Kham, said: "It is not something for the eyes, but for the heart. For us, perhaps the recognition with the eyes and the feeling from the heart will give the most accurate answer. "
