NASA discovered 72 asteroids that could collide with the Earth

Since 2013, the US Space Agency (NASA) has discovered hundreds of asteroids at risk of colliding with the Earth.

In a report published online on April 6, NASA said since December 2013, NEOWISE asteroid astronaut spacecraft, short for New Earth Object Wide-field Survey Explorer ( Wide-field infrared exploration ship) The near-Earth object has measured more than 19,000 asteroids and comets, detecting 439 objects close to Earth (NEO).

The second-year search data showed that 72 newly discovered asteroids, of which eight are potentially dangerous.

Although any asteroid can change its course and meet Earth's gravity, the identification of NEOs helps NASA establish the necessary process for dealing with potentially dangerous objects.

"NEOWISE detects large, dark objects near the Earth, in addition to the active terrestrial telescope network at light visible wavelengths. hundred meters, " said Amy Mainzer, NASA's NEOWISE project leader.

Without a lot of warning time, dangerous asteroids larger than a few hundred meters in diameter will need more energy to deflect or destroy them. In rare cases there is a high-risk threat planet that can deal with nuclear explosions to push or destroy objects.

NASA is seeking to divert asteroids into the Earth's atmosphere, however, this project must wait until 2020 to begin.
