NASA gives ISS another 4 years of operation

US Space Agency (NASA) on January 8 announced that the International Space Station (ISS) will operate for another four years, until 2024 . This is the second time ISS activity has been extended.

Earlier, in 2010, the website of the Russian Space Agency Roscosmos announced the agreement between the ISS participants including Russia, the US, Canada, Europe and Japan agreed to extend the operation time of the ISS until the year. 2020.

According to Moscow, due to the lack of technical difficulties in extending the operation time of ISS, plus the benefits of scientific and technological research on this station, the parties agreed to extend the operation. The movement of ISS in Earth orbit for 5 years more than the initial agreement is until 2015.

ISS is a combination of space research projects carried out in cooperation with 5 agencies including NASA (USA), Russian Federal Space Agency (RKA), Japan Aeronautics and Space Research Agency ( JAXA), Canadian Space Agency (CSA) and European Aerospace Agency (ESA).

Since 2007, ISS has become the largest artificial satellite operating on Earth orbit, the only space station with permanent people with 6-member astronaut groups from Russia, USA, Japan and Europe. Groups operating on ISS are rotated alternately.
