New psychological tips help people become happy

Researchers from the University of London's College of Education (UK) have come up with a psychological formula to predict the level of happiness of a person: That is keeping expectations at a moderate level.

They found that feeling happy does not come from the overall efficiency level, but is influenced by the effect on their expectations.

The study was conducted on 26 subjects participating in gambling. Each person has two choices, one is nothing and receives £ 40 (about 1.5 million VND) per game, and two is a bet to get a chance to get £ 90 (approximately 3 million VND), but in return they risk getting nothing if they lose money.

Experts have found that the accumulation of money does not make people happier, but the expectation of getting money makes the level of happiness increase, especially when these people do not raise hopes of winning big.

'People often think you will be happier if your expectations are low,' said Dr. Robb Rutledge, the lead researcher.

According to Dr., reducing the expected level will make the results often exceed the expectations of the self, thereby bringing positive effects on the status of people.

The team also said that the level of positive expectations can affect happiness before the results are available.

'If you plan to meet friends at a favorite restaurant, positive expectations can increase your happy mood right from the time of planning' - said Dr. Rutledge.

However, they also argue that this may in fact be counterproductive, because the level of expectation in this case may be too large, leading to the possibility of disappointment being raised, though it may be in fact home. The goods are not too 'bad'.

The study was published in the Proceedings of the British Academy of Sciences.
