New type of gold does not scratch, harder than steel

Swiss scientists collaborating with watchmaker Hublot create very hard and shiny 18 karat gold.

Gold is precious metal but very soft and easily scratched. If mixing gold with other metals will reduce the quality and value of gold.

To create this medium and hard gold, Swiss manufacturers use carbide boron , one of the world's hardest materials, and diamond. This material is applied to many products, including bulletproof vests.

First, carbide boilers are heated to more than 1,900 degrees Celsius to form a three-dimensional network like scaffolding. Then liquid gold is filled into this frame to fill all the holes. The mixture is hardened to become a synthetic material.

This type of gold is much harder than regular gold, even harder than steel, and is darker in color. Because it is very hard, the new gold does not need a scratch-resistant coating.

In addition to being used as jewelry, gold can be used in many other applications. Therefore, the type of gold not scratched will definitely be included in many expensive products in the near future.
