Rare story: Double meteorites fly across the Earth

Recently, scientists found that the Earth's meteorite traversed 6 million kilometers recently turned out to be two objects.

The meteorite named YE5 2017 was first recorded on December 21, 2017 and flew closest to Earth on June 21 at a distance of 6 million km (16 times the distance from Earth to the Moon ).

When observed with radar telescopes, the scientists found that it was actually a set of two 915m-long objects circling each other around a period of about 20-24 hours.

NASA has published detailed images of this object system.

Previously, many research groups thought that this was just an object.

According to NASA, the two meteorites, although shared, are very different in nature, especially in the density, composition and shape of objects.

Normally, it is difficult to see two meteorites because, depending on the angle of view, one can see them as overlapping.

At the same time, unlike other meteorites, this pair of "twins" reflects very little sunlight, so it looks very dark from Earth.

"This double meteorite discovery will help us learn more about how they are formed and formed ," NASA said.

Double meteorites account for nearly 15% of meteorites larger than 200m across the Earth in history.

Scientists believe that the double meteorite system will not fly over the Earth for at least 170 years.
