Roman coffin 1,800 years turned into flower pot in British palace
The ancient Roman coffin worth more than 365,000 USD was used to make tulip pots in the British palace for a century.
Experts conclude that the 100-year-old marble trough for tulip production in Blenheim Palace in Woodstock, Oxfordshire, England, is a Roman stone casket that costs more than $ 365,000, Mirror on March 8 reported.The palace management board was asked to take a closer look at the 198cm long object after an artifact specialist discovered the carved carvings on the casket's body.
Conservationists carefully removed the marble on the front of the coffin and studied the artifacts in general.They found that the carvings on the casket describe the wine party dating back to the year 300.
Dionysus, drunk in the spirit-shaped carvings based on the forest spirit, was equally drunk.On either side of the couple were wine party attendees including Hercules and Ariadne along with two large lion heads.Marble coffin weighs over 400kg.
The coffin is on display in an underground room in Blenheim Palace.
