Russian spacecraft containing toxic fuel may explode

On November 14, the director of the Russian Space Agency Vladimir Popovkin said the Phobos-Grunt spacecraft could explode and release the Earth's atmosphere of 12 tons of toxic fuel in January 2012.

At this point, contacting the ship was hopeless when scientists tried to reestablish communication and programming with the ship, but there was no signal.

'The ship will fly into orbit in January 2012, but on the first days of December the ship will close. Nearly all the opportunities to save this ship's fate after we have not collected any information to know what happened to the ship after the ship was launched , 'Popovkin told Interfax company (Russia).

If scientists fail to determine the direction of the ship toward Mars, it will pull the ship towards Earth and disorientate, then explode in the atmosphere.

The good news is that this spacecraft will not harm people on the ground. An unnamed source told Interfax, on the weekend, the spacecraft lost contact after restarting the program and connecting to the ship failed.

The Phobos-Grunt spacecraft brought the rock back to Earth as well as launched a Chinese satellite into Martia's orbit. However, the lofty mission of the spacecraft seemed to fail when the engines of the Russian spacecraft failed to resume their journey to Mars.

Earlier on November 10, a 170 million-dollar unmanned Russian spacecraft was successfully launched into orbit by Zenit-2 rocket boosters from the aerospace airport in Kazakhstan.
