The study also found that most respondents were comfortable when their partners touched anywhere on their bodies. Meanwhile, close friends or relatives can touch the head or upper body. For strangers, the touchable area is limited to the hand.

Women are more open and comfortable with people of the same sex, especially their mothers, sisters or girlfriends. In contrast, men often feel more comfortable when people touch them than women.
