Strange life of the famous prophet Vanga

Vanga is the famous prophet and herbalist of Bulgaria. She was born on January 31, 1911 and died on August 11, 1996. Her birth name was Vangelia Pandeva Dimitrova, after marriage to Vangelia Gushcherova.

She was blind since she was 12 years old and lived most of her life in Rupite, in the Kozhuh mountains, Bulgaria. At the time of birth, many people from all over the world came to see her for healing or advice on problems in life, and predict the future. Here we would like to introduce some chapters in the book " The Way of Vanga" by Bogdanovich VF

Part 1: Vanga's childhood

In his youth, Mr. Pande Surchev joined armed armed forces to fight against the Osman Empire. He was captured by the Turks and sentenced to life imprisonment. In the "Edi kule" prison , he was savagely tortured and seemed to lose hope to be rescued, but in 1908, the young Turks claimed Turkey to be a constitutional monarchy, and the new government awarded it. launch the prisoners.

Pande returned to his village of Novo-Selo, but there was no one there. My parents passed away without meeting my son, and my brother left somewhere and went missing. Shortly thereafter, believed in the city of Strumitsa, the commune distributed houses left by the Turks to the migrants, Pande set out there to find happiness.

He was assigned an old house located on the outskirts of the city.

The neighborhood called "Svetiko" is located next to the church of Fifteen martyrs. The houses here are built of bricks, identical, looking very old. "Svetiko" is more like an abandoned village than the outskirts of the city. The narrow, muddy and dirty roads, at night, could not see anything. The small yards are surrounded by hedges with plum trees. In the yard, the animals roam around, at night they are locked in downstairs houses or in rooms. All residents moved to the city from neighboring villages to get a job. They are mainly farmers, craftsmen or small traders.

Prominent in the neighborhood were a few noisy Zigan families and a Turkish family named Gyul-baba who did not want to return. People joked that he did not want to go because the rose garden did not allow. In fact, in his garden, roses bloom from the beginning of spring to the end of autumn, radiating a fragrant scent throughout the region.

Pande began to adapt to his new home. Young body quickly recovered after years of imprisonment and tribulation. He bought a small piece of hard work. He is a gentle guy, loves working, living in harmony with his neighbors, who are also migrants like him.

For a while, Pande lived alone. But then he fell in love with a gentle and agile girl named Paraskeva. She has a slender body, but is nimble and cute. Pande proposes marriage and agrees with her. Soon they start family life. The young wife is happy, neat and clean and knows how to cultivate the family. She helped her husband work in the fields and often supported him.

On January 31, 1911, their first daughter was born.

She gave birth at 7 months and was very weak, her fingers and toes stuck together, and did not cry out. Even old men don't believe that she can survive. People wrap the baby in a piece of wool cloth, then place it next to the stove.

Some time later, it was on March, when the baby suddenly cried out in the middle of the night. The wise women explained to the mother who was worried that she was actually born at that very moment.

In Strumitsa, it is not common for a child to name a child unless he is sure he survives. Also according to ancient customs, parents or relatives are not given names to the child. Someone in the family must go to the street and ask the first person to name it.

And in the morning after she started crying, her grandmother went to the street and asked a woman to first name the baby. She put it "Andromaha". But grandmother did not like the name, she went to another woman across the street; This lady named "Vangelia". This Greek name means "one who brings good news". And although this is a "foreign" name, in Strumitsa, it's very popular, and grandmother agrees to give it to her.

In the family, everyone called her Vanga. She became more and more sturdy and soon, she looked no different from her peers. When Vangelia was three years old, she died in her second childbirth. The unhappiness doesn't stop there. The First World War broke out, and in 1915, her father was encouraged to join the Bulgarian army.

A very gentle and kind Tho woman named Asanitsa, living next door, took her to feed. Five months passed together, life was difficult and hard. People waited for Vanga's father to return, but three years had passed and he still had no sound. People started thinking that he was dead? . Maybe, she was orphaned by both parents?

However, all doubts turned out to be useless. Soon his father survived and remained healthy. But not only girls but also neighbors were very difficult to recognize him because he was so skinny and emaciated.

Vanga and Dad continue to live in the old house. But Mr. Pande is not alone. And Vanga - a girl with chestnut hair and blue eyes - was 7 years old. Aroused and erratic, she needed the love and care of a mother. The father was very worried about the future of Vanga.

Although the war was over, but still the same, the people were afraid and felt insecure. The new government was established in Strumitsa, it moved to the hands of a Serbian mayor. Now the people of the city must speak and write in Serbian. Local officials apply draconian rules and various taboos. Many very difficult people understand complex orders, and worry about looking into the future. Some people leave their homeland. Mr. Pande also thought that it would be best to leave, but because of girls, he didn't decide to do it.

But children have their own lives. In Mr. Pande's house, there was always a play. The children in the dead zone were tired of dying because of the games Vanga showed thanks to their lively and hilarious character. Her favorite game is called "at the hospital" . Vanga plays the "physician". "Patient" waits in the yard, and the medicine is the grass that grows all around to cure various "diseases" .

Like her mother, she likes to be clean and tidy. She also asked you to sweep the yard after "healing". After scanning, Vanga told everyone to sit around on a thorny mat. The children waited impatiently for this moment. And Vanga began telling them countless things because she made up her own. They all held their breath and listened.

Mr. Pande alone is struggling to manage his daughter's economy and education. He often thought about taking another step. Can not say he is a fat man: poor, widowed and still have to raise children. But luckily smiled at him. Soon after, one of the most beautiful girls in the city, Tanka Georgievna, became his wife. An unfortunate event in the Tanka family has become an opportunity for him. Tanka prepares to marry a Bulgarian officer, but the marriage breaks down because of an unreasonable directive of the Serbian leadership. Accordingly all women are more or less involved in Bulgarian officers or soldiers, who must immediately leave the family with Strumitsa. In order to avoid being buzzed and expelled from the city, Tanka accepted Pande's marriage proposal and married him.

The young wife became a good housewife and a devoted mother, but her husband also had no reason to disappoint his wife, he was a kind, caring and diligent man. It can't be any better. Peaceful and harmonious family atmosphere. Thanks to Mr. Pande's hard work and patience, his family business is getting more and more powerful, his family's land area gradually expands to 9 hectares. During the harvest season, when family members did not work, Mr. Pande even had to hire workers. People show respect for him.

But peace and happiness lasts not long. Dark clouds covered the Strumitsa sky. New leadership seeks to turn locals into Serbs. A guy named Popchevsky has become an effective implementer of this campaign. He was ordered to decide the fate of everyone at his disposal. And immediately shook hands to "handle" the Bulgarian descent or those who sympathized with the Bulgarian people. Popchevsky does not ignore Pande's past. Once, during the harvest, Pande was arrested and released to the station. He was beaten and tortured, then returned home, but soon the land was confiscated.

The disaster was so great that Mr. Pande's family for many years could not keep up their souls and fell into poverty. Mr. Pande has no other way out of work. An event that seemed to be happy as a child, in their new situation, only added burden. In 1932, Mrs. Tanka gave birth to a boy, named Vasil. The father went to grazing animals in a nearby village, after moving to another village . He could not stand up anymore.

Vanga is 11 years old. She worked hard to help with housework. I just thought of games to play by myself. But one of her "magical" games worried her parents. Its abnormality is that she plays a "blind person". For example, she left the street or next door to something and started to look for it, fumbling everywhere, like a blind person. Her parents tried to ban Vanga, but she didn't listen.

During that time, Mr. Pande's brother, Konstadin, was informed about his brother's family background. Konstadin's fate was more fortunate: he became rich, married, but Heaven did not allow his children. Knowing that his brother's family was in trouble, Konstadin invited them to move in with him."What suffers in Strumitsa, it is best to help me graze animals, I will not assist you." The invitation was accepted, and in 1923, the family moved to Novo-Selo.
