The trail of zigzag on Lake Thingvallavatn in a national park of the same name was discovered by a nearby resident and shared on Facebook earlier this month, attracting much attention. This is an unprecedented phenomenon in this region ever, according to RT.

Lake Thingvallavatn, Iceland's largest lake, often freezes frozen from the spring but the winter weather is warmer, making the lake only partially frozen for a short time.

Einar AE Saemundsen, park manager, found that the zigzag models stretching more than two kilometers did not form in the same area as other cracks in the ice."There is much speculation about the phenomenon of alien activity, mysterious monsters to strange conspiracy theories , " Saemundsen said.

According to experts, tape traces are the result of an extremely rare phenomenon called "finger rafting" , which occurs when two ice patches on the water overlap each other. This natural pattern is only formed when both ice sheets have the same thickness.
