The black elephant joins herds with other white elephants in Naypyitaw, the capital of Myanmar (also called Burma). The black elephant along with five other white elephants are all captured from the natural environment by their unusual colored fur.

These distinctive colored elephants are considered sacred signs of luck, peace and wealth in Burmese Buddhism.

Five of the rare white elephants were found and taken back to raise in Burma from 2001 to 2010. White elephants have been revered for centuries in Southeast Asian countries like Burma and Thailand. and Laos.

Historically, the white elephant was kept by the heads and was considered a symbol of royal power and prosperity.

Many people in Burma still believe that white elephants appear only in places where Buddhist practice and government management are fair.
