The earth has thousands of moons

There are thousands of mini moons orbiting the Earth, according to a study on supercomputer models by scientists at the University of Hawaii (USA).

Scientists have modeled supercomputers to track the orbit of 10 million meteorites passing through the Earth System - the Moon. The orbits of the Sun with Earth-like orbits are often sucked into the Earth's mini moon.

'We accurately track the motion of meteorites - including the influence of the attraction from the Sun and all the other planets and large meteorites in the Solar System - and discover 18,000 meteorites that have been Driven by orbit around the Earth , "said Dr. Robert Jedicke, a member of the research team, on National Geographic .

Scientists estimate that there are always one or two mini moons the size of a washing machine and about 1,000 mini moons that are bigger than the baseball orbiting Earth at any time.

The computer model also shows that most mini moons orbit the Earth for less than a year before they return to orbit around the Sun or plunge into Earth's atmosphere. Therefore, some meteor stars visible in the night sky may be mini moons falling to Earth.

Despite the computer model, there are thousands of mini moons orbiting the Earth. However, scientists say it is difficult to observe them, in fact, because they are relatively small and dim. In addition, the mini moon is influenced by gravity, so their flight speed is very fast.

'Currently, we are trying to find a way to use astronomical surveys to observe the mini moon more often. For example, large sized moons can be observed with a 20cm diameter telescope , 'said Dr. Robert Jedicke.
