The light from the sun to the earth will leave behind the shadow area and the midnight area. When the moon enters the midnight region (as in cases 1 and 2 in the picture) we have a half-moon eclipse. When the moon goes over and lies completely in the shadow area we have the total Moonlight.

The full moon this time will happen on the right occasion of the 5th lunar month. That night, the darkness of the earth will completely cover the moon, this is one of the longest eclipses believed to be the 21st century.

The people of Vietnam and some parts of the world in the hemisphere will have the opportunity to observe this phenomenon in a record time of 100 minutes.

According to engineer Nguyen Tuan, Ho Chi Minh City amateur astronomical club, calculations by the US Aeronautics and Space Agency ( NASA) show that the eclipse phenomenon will start at 0: 22 Vietnam time when the moon enters the half-shadow of the earth (half-moon eclipse).

However , the time to observe the full lunar eclipse will be around 2 hours 22 . At that time the whole moon will turn red. The full moon actually peaks at 3 hours 10 is also the time when the moon is dyed the most red. In Vietnam, if the weather is good and it is not raining, we can observe the entire lunar eclipse from the beginning to the end at about 4 am on June 16 . Then the moon will exit the dark area and the color will return to normal until the moon leaves the shadow completely at 5: 2 and ends part eclipse.

Astronomical observers predict that in 2011 there will be two full eclipses that can be observed in Vietnam. The second time will happen on the evening of December 10, 2011 and only last for 52 minutes.
