Research by scientists shows that, in the 70s of the last century, a deadly infectious disease caused by fungi invaded the Mexican salamander. On that basis, scientists have conducted studies related to infectious diseases in amphibians.

Through the study of the history of infectious diseases in Mexican salamanders, scientists discovered that Bd fungus is the main reason for the decline of amphibian populations. About 40% of frogs, toads and other amphibians are declining.

Currently, there is no treatment for Bd fungus. However, this study has important implications for the scientific community to find a better way to prevent the development of Bd fungus.
