The pair of gay penguins adopted an egg after a long time to ... boulder incubation
After their efforts, this gay penguin couple will surely become admirable fathers of Berlin Zoo.
Skipper and Ping , both 10 years old, are two emperor penguins living at the Berlin Zoo (Germany). Both are male, and they love each other, relying on each other emotionally for many years.
Like other couples, the two were also anxious to have children. Stopping a creature that does not allow them to regularly find round stones, having the same size as an egg to hatch in the hope that their small family will have new members.
The zoo staff always feel heartbroken with this scene. So they decided to help Skipper and Ping become real fathers, but it wasn't until recently that there was a chance to do this.
Zoo staff found an egg abandoned by a penguin mother, and they decided to give it to the other "gorgeous" birds. And because I spent half my life preparing to be a father, as soon as the egg was placed in front of them, they knew immediately what to do.
It's easy to understand: they hatch eggs!
Skipper and Ping gay penguins
It is known that emperor penguins are the only penguin that males have to worry about hatching entirely. So it should be considered, Skipper and Ping's egg-processing process is even more affectionate than other normal couples, as they take turns helping each other in this job.
If all goes well, Skipper and Ping will hear crackling eggshell welcoming a new member to the small family. They will enjoy the joy of caring for their children like many other penguins.
"This is the first time we have helped a pair of gay penguins hatch eggs," said Norbert Zahmel, Berlin zoo manager.
How big is love!
Even so, Skipper and Ping are not the only gay couples in the world to receive "adoption" . In July 2019, lesbian lesbian penguins at Sea Life Aquarium in London also adopted and hatched successfully an egg received from a single penguin mother struggling with her two young children. .
Marama and Rocky (the couple's name) have been together for 5 years, before becoming proud moms, taking turns taking care of their young children so that their partners have time to rest and eat.
Another famous story is the love story of Silo and Roy, gay gay penguins at Central Park Zoo, New York. Silo and Roy's cute story became the inspiration for writing children's books "And tango makes three".
Homosexuality is a common situation in the penguin community, both in the wild or in captivity. Typically, at the Irish Dunle Oceanworld aquarium, eight out of 14 penguins are homosexual.
