The terrible truth about the damage of nail bombs

Metal fragments fired at a speed of more than 3,000 km / h made the bombardment's damage much greater than mere explosives.

The bombs have been used by many terrorist attackers in the past. It is a self-made weapon with much more damage than normal explosives.

Bombs have been used for decades to maximize the damage of homemade bombs.

According to experts on explosives, the principle of operation of bombs is relatively simple. The perpetrators often stuff more nails and sharp pieces of metal into the explosive block. The extreme pressure generated from the explosion will cause these pieces of metal to fire around at very high speeds, increasing damage many times more than conventional explosives.

Explosive expert Jimmie Oxley said the bombs have been used for decades to maximize the damage of homemade bombs , as they have much less destructive power than military explosives. Oxley said the metal fragments in the homemade bomb could fire at speeds above 3,000km / h, faster than rifle bullets.

"You can escape the shockwave of the explosion, but the splatters will fly much further and you have no chance of escaping from such bombs," the expert said.
