Toothbrush to save the international space station

Six astronauts and the International Space Station (ISS), a $ 100 billion device block, were saved by a brush.

On September 5, two astronauts made a second space walk, to remove the bolt - the device was stuck making them unable to repair and install the new generator (MBSU). for ISS, according to Space.

Last week, astronauts also made a space walk to replace a failed generator. But one of the bolts attached to the ISS station was stuck and could not be squeezed into the right position, so the work did not go according to plan.

ISS has 4 MBSU generators and each has a weight of nearly 100kg. They transfer electricity from solar panels outside the station to $ 100 billion space labs.

After repairing and testing two jammed bolts, NASA and Japanese astronauts discovered pieces of cosmic trash lying inside, making the bolts not in place with the MBSU attached to the ISS. Finally, they used a three-dollar toothbrush and a nitrogen gas tank to clean up the pieces of cosmic trash.

The entire repair work of the pilots lasted for 6 hours 28 minutes.

"Just like you saved the ISS station. This situation reminds us of the astronaut who was aboard the Apolo 13 that improved the tools necessary to save the mission back then. Congratulations to the whole team" American astronaut Jack Fischer talks about the achievements of his colleagues.
