Traces of the former Soviet Union's Buran space project
In the mid-1970s, the Soviet Union implemented the Buran program - a program in response to NASA's shuttle program at the time. This ambitious project shattered just after an unmanned test flight. Many traces of the project still exist today.
Construction of Soviet shuttles continued during the 1980s, culminating in the launch of the 1988 unmanned Buran space shuttle plan. Many subsequent transfers were canceled due to lack of experience. but the equipment in this project is still retained.
