In a notebook always kept by me when leading the army in Virginia in 1757, when America was a colonial, Washington wrote about the formula of a stout made of molasses.

Washington is not only an outstanding politician, he is also a good brewer.

In 2011, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the opening of the New York Public Library main building, where this beer recipe was kept from 1918 to the present day, Coney Island Brewing has prepared the beer that Washington has again.

Beer brewer Pete Taylor said Washington's recipe left only a few words on a small piece of paper, but it took weeks to determine the content.

Because beer making is a science, it takes many tests to determine the exact composition and scale.

One of the challenges for producers is to find the right ingredients, because hops and grains today are of very high quality. Meanwhile, Taylor said: 'Maybe Washington must scavenge a forest for hops'.

This formula also depends on fermentation from molasses. According to Taylor, no one is doing this anymore.

Finally, the manufacturer uses ingredients such as malt, special hops and molasses to process according to Washington's beer recipe. The final product, called Fortitude Founding Father Brew , is processed in limited quantities.

This beer has a 6% alcohol content, is very clear and has a sweet taste of molasses, so this beer should not be drunk with a large cup.

President Washington not only processed beer, he also made whiskey. Towards the end of his life, he managed a whiskey workshop in his home town of Mount Vernon (USA). This factory has recently been rebuilt and there are several famous wine-processing artists restoring the original wine recipe left by the US President .
