One might recognize the name Tesla was given to the famous electric car company, or the main character in the movie "The Current War: Director's Cut" starring Benedict Cumberbatch as Thomas. Edison. All of this is inspired by Nikola Tesla, who is more famous for her talent than is acknowledged by history.

He is a visionary scientist who develops the basis for today's widely used alternating current, and is at the forefront of many technologies that improve everyday life. Originally from Siberia, moving to New York City in 1884, Tesla holds about 300 patents throughout his career.

Alternating current

This is the technology that caused the battle between Tesla and Edison.

In 1884, Tesla left Europe to work for Edison, after being promised a $ 50,000 lease to improve direct current. Of course, the alternating current of Tesla proved superior. It can be reversed many times per second, easily converted into high or low voltage electricity.

"Tesla has been working hard for 20 hours a day. He always tries to persuade Edison to switch to alternating current," Alessi told CNN, " Eventually, Edison did not pay Tesla, saying his promise only is a joke. Tesla gave up ".

Today, the popularity of alternating current proves the greatness of Tesla. AC power is used in refrigerators, electric appliances, fans, etc., while DC is still used in some types of industrial machinery, but requires more maintenance.

Radio waves

History notes Italian businessman Guglielmo Marconi was the inventor of the radio. But sometimes history is wrong.

Marconi sent the first transatlantic radio link, but it used technology from 17 Tesla patents. Another fighting is going on here.

Finally, the US Supreme Court revoked Marconi's radio patent in 1943 to support Tesla and scientists Oliver Lodge and John Stone. Unfortunately, Tesla and Marconi have died before.

Remote control

X-ray

According to an academic paper published in 2008 on Radio Graphics: "Every radiologist knows Nikola Tesla's research in the field of electromagnetism . but few know Tesla has experiments on X ray".

Hydroelectric

Tesla is a big name in the renewable energy industry. Nine of the 12 patents used to design one of the first hydroelectric plants in the world, built at Niagara Falls, New York, belong to Tesla.
