These 3 new lemurs have been officially named in the June issue of international primates.

"The discovery of a new species of wild lemur in the 21st century proves that we know too little about the natural world, and emphasize the importance of protecting them," said the primates. Mireya Mayor said.

One of the three new species named Microcebus mittermeier , named after Russell A. Mittermeier, president of the international conservation organization and a well-known primate. The animal looks like a red fur with big eyes due to having to eat at night.

The other two species are Microcebus jollyae , named from Alison Jolly, the pioneer of lemurs at Princeton University, and Microcebus simmonsi , named after Dr. Lee Simmons, Director of Omaha Henry Zoo in Nebraska.

Madagascar is home to more than 70 species of lemurs and primates with distant relatives. Lemurs are found only in Madagascar and some neighboring islands. They are in danger of extinction.
