A 4-year-old boy in Beijing, China tested positive for the H7N9 influenza virus, identified as a host of the deadly H7N9 influenza virus, Xinhua reported on April 15.
Currently, he still does not have any clinical symptoms and is still being closely monitored at Beijing's Geodetic Hospital.
The Beijing Health Department said that on the evening of April 14, according to a report by the Beijing Center for Disease Control and Prevention, when conducting the H7N9 test for poultry traders, people found him. He gave a positive result to H7N9.
It is known that this boy is the son of a couple working as a poultry trade in the subject of H7N9 testing.
Medical experts have based on the clinical manifestations of the boy combined with the results of the examination determined that the boy is the host of the H7N9 influenza virus. Soon after, the boy was taken to hospital for follow-up and treatment.
Local health officials say a neighbor of the boy bought a bird from a family of 7-year-old patients identified as the first H7N9 infection in Beijing.
