87 Chinese people died of bird flu H7N9
China is strengthening measures to prevent the spread of H7N9 bird flu, which has killed dozens of people, including the ban on the sale of live poultry.
Xinhua News Agency on Feb. 17 reported that a young mother in Yunnan province in southwestern China was the latest victim of the bird flu.

Last week her 3-year-old daughter died because of the same reason. The families of the two victims traveled to Jiangxi Province to attend the Spring Festival on January 21 and had contact with live birds here.
In January, Zhejiang Province had 35 cases and 11 deaths. This is the worst outbreak in this province in the last 3 years.
Many cases of similar infections occur throughout China. Since the beginning of the year, at least 269 people have been infected with H7N9 bird flu, including 87 deaths. Most cases of H7N9 infection occur in the Changjiang and Pearl River deltas of China.
In the face of escalating epidemics, Chinese health authorities have stepped up measures to control and prevent disease.
The National Committee for Family Planning and Health is training staff in testing and early diagnosis as well as in the treatment of critical patients.
The committee has also banned the sale of live poultry in H7N9 infected areas, and recommended February and March to be a peak for disease control.
