Add a record for Sunita Williams
The American astronaut Sunita Williams (pictured) has just added a world record when she becomes the woman who flies continuously in space for the longest time.
At 5:47 GMT on Saturday 16 June, Sunita Williams surpassed Shannon Lucid's 188-day and 4-hour records set in 1996. As expected, Sunita Williams, an American of Slovenyia-Indian origin will follow. Atlantis returned to Earth on Thursday 21 June.
Earlier, Sunita Williams also set a record for women to make the longest space trip, lasting 22 hours and 27 minutes, breaking Kathryn Thornton's only over 21-hour record.
During more than 6 months on the space station, Ms. Sunita Williams also had another achievement to participate in the Boston marathon.
