The ambitious "Green Forest City" project in Liuzhou will be a radical solution against China's air pollution.

In this green urban area, all houses, offices, hotels, hospitals and schools will be covered with nearly one million flowers and shrubs from more than 100 different species, along with 40,000 trees.

This green forest city is located in the beautiful mountain forest of Karst, on the Que Giang river. It was designed by construction company from Italy Stefano Boeri Architetti.

With an area of 1.75 km2, this green forest city will connect with the city center by a high-speed tram route. According to the plan, this will be a housing complex and a shopping and entertainment center, plus two schools and a hospital.

Thanks to being covered by nearly a million 40,000 trees of all kinds, the city is expected to significantly and quickly improve air quality in the region.

According to information from Stefano Boeri Architetti, the amount of greenery in the city will absorb about 10,000 tons of carbon dioxide per year, equivalent to emissions from 1,961 cars emitted in a year. It is also said to filter 57 tons of pollutants and produce about 900 tons of oxygen per year. For ease of comparison, that oxygen may be enough for a person to breathe for 95 years.

What's even more amazing is that the vertically grown vegetation will reduce the average temperature of the air, acting as noise barriers and improving the biodiversity of living organisms. area.

Not only will the dust and emissions filter, the city's trees reduce air temperature and save energy.

Architect Stefano Boeri, from Milan, has previously produced many high-rise buildings covered by botanical blue in countries like Italy and Belgium. In 2014, Stefano's company successfully built two towers, called 'Vertical Forest', in Milan's city center, located in Isola.
