The mysterious 'curved forest' in Poland

A small plot of a forest in western Poland has about 400 specially developed pine trees with the lower body of the trees bent at an angle of about 90 degrees to the north.

The pine trees in the 'curved forest' were planted around 1930. They grew 7-10 years when they were mechanically impacted, bending the shape above.

However, according to Discovery magazine, the exact reason why the original farmers intentionally bent the lower body of pine trees so far has not been answered.
