Both Samsung and LG are competing fiercely to become the first company in the world to launch a curved OLED TV. However, LG has announced that it will be the winner when it launches the Korean market this technology product next month.
LG 55EA9800 curved OLED TVs will feature a 55-inch (54.6-inch) screen with two curved edges for a more vivid image. LG Electronics says its researchers spent five years developing a product that has an optimal curve with distance from any point on the screen to the viewer's eye.
Just like the 55-inch OLED flat panel TV launched in February, the 55EA9800 curved display uses LG's WRGB technology, adding white pixels to the red, green pixels. and normal blue. At the same time, it also has excellent light contrast with ambient light at all angles.
This curved screen is 4.3mm thick, weighs 17kg. LG has also created a special wall mount for this TV.
LG has begun accepting orders for 55EA9800 in Korea, and will begin deliveries to more than 14,000 LG resellers in May.
The price of this curved screen TV is 15 million won (about $ 15,300). Prices and dates for other markets will be announced in the coming months.
