Scientists covered the F-Cell with LED arrays and mounted an SLR camera opposite the vehicle. The camera records the image next to the car and the video is transmitted directly on the LED screen on the other side.
This technology was initially applied by scientists from the University of Tokyo (Japan). It has the same principle as the blue screen used in weather reports and is very familiar to filmmakers.
In the Mercedes-Benz promotional video, people were shocked to see stealth cars on the streets of Hamburg or bridges in Bavaria. Some funny people watching YouTube videos comment that stealth cars can be parked anywhere without having to buy a ticket.
Mercedes-Benz F-Cell vehicles use liquid hydrogen fuel that does not pollute the environment. This car can run more than 400km in a fuel load. However, hydrogen-powered cars will only be commercially available after 2015 due to current cost and infrastructure problems.
