The survey by psychologist Peter Howell from University of London performed on 317 children from 8 to 10 years old, children who went to the doctor for stuttering.
Among them, 1 in 5 children speak English and another language at home. Nearly half of the babies stutter both languages. Boys are more stuttering, at a rate of 4/1 compared to women.
The study also showed that when children only use foreign languages at home without their native language, their ability to stutter is higher. However, there is no difference in school behavior between stuttering children and other children.
Experts also said that if children learn their mother tongue before the age of 5 before learning foreign languages, the ability to stutter will decrease.
