Mr. Yin Chengjie, deputy minister of China's agriculture ministry, said the country is currently experiencing a crisis of blue ear disease in pigs. Many areas in China are infected with this disease and most pigs have not been vaccinated.

Blue ear disease is caused by a virus that infects the lymphatic system in the pig's lungs and symptoms are pig's ears turning green. According to experts, the risk of this disease spreading to humans is not available.
It is known that the hot and humid climate of the summer is the most favorable condition to spread the disease. During the spring and summer of last year, the blue ear disease in pigs caused great damage to pig farmers in China.
According to official figures, in the first 5 months of this year, 19,000 pigs died of blue ear disease and another 6,000 were killed to prevent the disease from spreading.
