The Brazilian Ministry of Science announced that a satellite co-produced by China and Brazil, launched by China, did not reach the orbit as expected but fell back to earth on December 10.

The Brazilian announcement said that the CBERS-3 satellite launched by China's Changzhong 4B missile at the center of China's Taiyuan satellite launch has been in trouble on its way, unable to reach its orbit position. Expected and initial reviews show it has fallen back to earth. The announcement also stated that the cause of failure is being investigated and the two countries are pushing for a plan to cooperate in manufacturing CBERS-4.

CBERS-3 is the fourth in a series of satellites that monitor land use in Brazil, including monitoring forests in the Amazon basin.

According to Reuters news agency, although Brazil is the third largest commercial jet manufacturer in the world, space technology still depends on the US and Europe, so Brazil wants to reduce its dependence. This failure in cooperation with China made Brazil more eager to build its own satellite launch facility.

Last month, Embraer and Brazil's Telebras telecommunications company signed a contract with France worth US $ 560 million to bring telecommunications and defense satellites to orbit. The satellite was built by Thales space equipment supplier and launched by the Arianespace space transport company in French Guiana.
