Cardiologist David Erling told Fox News, one of the most dangerous times of the year for the heart.

Scientists analyzed 238,000 Swedish heart attacks from 1998 to 2013. They found an average of 50 heart attacks occur every day. The number increased to 69 on Christmas Eve, which most often happens around 22:00 pm on December 24.

The risk is also high on New Year's Eve and at 8am on Monday. These usually occur in people over 75 and people with heart disease or diabetes.

According to the American Heart Association, a heart attack occurs when blood flow of oxygen to the heart decreases or is interrupted. Coronary arteries are narrowed by fat, cholesterol and other substances called plaque
