Zuo Zhang, a 48-year-old fisherman in Fujian, China, caught the conch weighing about 1.5kg when pulling the net on March 3, according to Apple Daily. Zhang and his wife discovered a shiny pearl with a diameter of two centimeters while making snail meat to prepare lunch.

The jewel weighs about 15.6g, is orange-yellow and is as big as a coin."I have been a fisherman since I was young but this is the first time I saw snail pearls , " Zhang said.

According to Huang Zhouying, professor of food and marine science at Quanzhou Teachers College, Fujian, the snail takes a long time to form a jewel with a diameter of two centimeters. Professor Zhouying evaluated the big pearl as Zhang found extremely rare and highly valuable.
