Creating artificial wood can resist water and fire, producing faster than growing plants

The future of the wood processing industry will change dramatically with the artificial wood materials recently developed by Chinese scientists. This type of wood can be more resistant to water, fire and important production faster than planting trees.

Chinese scientists have created a new wood-like material that is not easily burnt or permeable. This synthetic wood is made by freezing polymer plastic solution with a little chitosan (polymer derivative from shrimp shell and crab shell). This derivative works to create a porous structure.

This synthetic wood is made by freezing polymer plastic solution with a little chitosan.

Next, the plastic solution will be heated at high temperatures up to 200 degrees Celsius to create stronger chemical bonds.

The heating stage for the material has the effect of increasing the bonding in the resin and increasing the durability of the wood. Even if you want to improve durability, scientists can completely add artificial fibers or natural fibers into the mixture.

According to the study author, Shu-Hong Yu shared, this synthetic wood can withstand abrasion and impact forces like normal wood. This type of material has many advantages over traditional wood.

The first is that it is easier to produce and does not take years to plant and harvest wood. Second, it is water resistant. Experimental immersion of this type of wood in acid baths and water for 30 days has almost no effect on the properties and strength of the wood.

With regular wood, if soaking in water for a long time, it can lead to reduced elasticity. In fact, the same samples of Balsa soaked in the same solution lost 70% of the hardness and 40% of the resistance to the impact.

This material is also harder to burn than regular wood and only burns if exposed to continuous fire. Interestingly, it can be easily extinguished after being removed from the fire. This is a great advantage of this synthetic wood.

When mixing this material with graphene, the scientists developed that the material could be better insulated than natural wood.

The group of researchers believes that this synthetic wood is suitable for mass production and hopefully someday, the material will replace natural wood, to limit deforestation and for activities. Construction dynamics in harsh environments.
