Many tourists and users of the skeptical Google Earth program, a giant spiral structure that appears in the Egyptian desert may be traces of aliens left on Earth.
For some, the strange structure looks like a landing zone for alien spacecraft. While others have identified it, this may be some mysterious, ancient symbol.
In general, the giant structure, located in the deserted desert not far from the Red Sea, 400km from Cairo, confuses visitors and users of Google Earth since it first appeared March 1997. However, the local authorities' answer helped to decipher the mystery about it.
The strange structure is finally an environmental installation art by three artists Danae Stratou, Alexandra Stratou and Stella Constantinides. They designed and built this nearly 93,000 square meter artwork to portray "desert as a mental state".
Called "Desert Breath" , the work consists of two interlocking spiral rings, in which a spiral is a chain of conical dunes and the remaining is a series of pyramid-shaped dents in the sandstone .
Initially, the design team created a small lake in the center, but the recent images on Google Maps revealed, the lake has dried up. The entire installation is also gradually disintegrating as sand is blown away from conical floating structures and filled with concave holes.
