This symbol is said to have appeared in the US only a few centuries after the country gained independence from the British colonialists. There are two theories for the appearance of this symbol: some people assume that this is the simplicity of the U overlaying the letter S. While some people assume that this symbol is the result of mixing the S with peso. Anyway, this symbol is being used a lot while trading foreign currencies.

This is the symbol in shorthand. It is synonymous with the word 'and' . This symbol has existed before Jesus was born. It is made up of combining the words 'e' and 't' into 'et' , meaning 'and' in Latin.
