Detects hair color by analyzing blood and saliva samples

According to research published in Genetics, European researchers have found a new way to detect human hair color through blood or saliva samples.

Previously, these researchers have successfully tested the way of calculating the age of people through analysis of blood samples.

Researchers from Erasmus University, MC , said that based on DNA information, this test could accurately determine more than 90% red or black hair color and more than 80% for color hair someone's yellow or brown.

Surprisingly, this new test also shows the difference of the hair colors are quite similar as between red and red or yellow and dark yellow. DNA is determined based on blood, sperm, saliva and other biological samples.

The research leader, Professor Manfred Kayser explained, ' We can now diagnose different hair colors from DNA analysis, which is a big breakthrough because so far only people have been temporarily identify red hair color (rare hair color) through DNA '.

The researchers said they took advantage of information about DNA and hair color of hundreds of Europeans and previous research genes affecting the differences of hair color. They identified 13 ' DNA sequences ' from 11 genes that contain information to predict human hair color.

According to the scientists, from this discovery they will continue to study to determine the color of human hair.
