Discover 3 unique new salamanders

Three species of salamander have never been known, of which one has a vivid color, one has a lightning-fast tongue and the other is no longer than a fingernail, discovered in a dense forest. Costa Rica. This creature is completely unique in the forest stretched across the border with neighboring Panama.

Its eye-catching color is like the warning color of an extremely poisonous frog that also lives in this area. However, whether the bright red color is a tool to deceive predators is still unknown.

About 6 cm long, this nocturnal salamander moves at the speed of a slug, but has a tongue that emits as quickly as lightning. It is one of the fastest things in the animal kingdom. Within 7 milliseconds, it can touch and tighten its prey.

Small to fit in the nail, this creature has yet to be named. It is only 3 cm long and lives in clumps of moss and dead leaves under the forest carpet of La Amistad National Park. It is the seventh dwarf salamander in the Nototriton group discovered in Costa Rica.
